According to Odaily, X, a popular social media platform, is reportedly planning to make 'likes' private for all users. This move was confirmed by X's engineer, Haofei, who stated that public 'likes' often encourage inappropriate behavior. For instance, many users refrain from liking content that may be considered 'radical' due to fear of retaliation or to protect their public image.
Haofei assured users that they will soon be able to 'like' content without worrying about who might see it. He also reminded users that the more posts they 'like', the better their 'recommended for you' algorithm will become.
Vitalik Buterin, commenting on Warpcast, applauded this decision. He pointed out that preference falsification is a significant issue in society, and there is a need for people's genuine opinions to be seen. He suggested that if Farcaster could adopt a similar approach and implement Zero-Knowledge 'Likes' (ZK likes), it would be quite impressive. He hinted that Zupoll's technology could potentially be used as a reference.
