According to Odaily, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has announced the upcoming departures of Scott Schneider, the advisor to Chairman Gensler and Director of the Office of Public Affairs (OPA), and Sanjay Wadhwa, the Acting Director of the Enforcement Division. Sanjay Wadhwa has served at the SEC for 21 years, taking on the role of Acting Director of the Enforcement Division since October 2024. Prior to this, he was the Deputy Director of the division from August 2021. During his tenure, Wadhwa oversaw over 2,600 enforcement actions, resulting in the recovery of more than $20 billion in illegal gains, prejudgment interest, and civil penalties, with billions returned to affected investors. Scott Schneider, who served as the chief communication advisor to Chairman Gensler, led the SEC's external communication strategy, media relations, rulemaking and enforcement communications, digital strategy, updates to SEC.gov, and internal communications as the OPA Director.
