Hayden Davis Faces Interpol Red Notice Over $LIBRA Scandal
The founder of the $LIBRA meme coin, Hayden Davis, is now the subject of an international manhunt as Argentine authorities push for his arrest.
Davis, who is accused of orchestrating a scam that drained $100 million from investors, is facing mounting legal pressure, with an Interpol Red Notice request officially filed by local lawyer Gregorio Dalbón.
Request for Global Arrest Warrant
Dalbón has formally requested that Argentine courts issue a global arrest warrant for Davis, citing the serious procedural risks associated with his freedom.
With his vast wealth and international connections, the attorney claims Davis could easily flee justice, obstruct the ongoing investigation, or go into hiding.
Dalbón insists that Davis must be extradited to Argentina to face charges of fraud related to the $LIBRA token.
According to Dalbón’s filing, Davis played a central role in the creation and promotion of the ill-fated meme coin, which was intended to revive Argentina’s economy but instead led to millions of dollars in losses.

The case has gained significant attention due to its high-profile connections, including President Javier Milei’s involvement in the promotion of $LIBRA.
President Milei’s Controversial Role
The scandal has not only implicated Davis but also President Javier Milei, who promoted the token on his X account in February, claiming it would offer financial relief to struggling Argentinians.

However, after the coin’s collapse, Milei quickly deleted his post, leading many to believe the entire venture was a pump-and-dump scheme.
While Milei has since denied promoting the coin for personal gain, the damage to his reputation has been done.
Milei's defence centres around the argument that he merely “spread the word” about $LIBRA but did not promote it.
Despite this, Davis, in a February statement, claimed that Milei was heavily involved in the token's launch and shared assurances of its potential before suddenly reversing his stance.
Davis stated,
"This abrupt decision was made without prior notice and directly contradicted previous assurances."
Hayden Denies Bribing Milei’s Inner Circle
Further complicating matters, Davis is also accused of paying bribes to Karina Milei, the president’s sister, to promote the coin.

Davis initially claimed that these payments were made but has since vehemently denied the allegations.
He asserted,
"Recent media reports claiming I paid President Javier Milei or his sister, Karina Milei, to launch the $LIBRA memecoin are completely false."
In a livestream, he downplayed the severity of the situation, stating,
“I’m just custodying money that should be for the government or at least the country of Argentina.”
Despite his repeated denials, Davis’s role in the promotion and eventual crash of $LIBRA has led to multiple lawsuits, with investors accusing both Davis and the Milei family of orchestrating the scam.
Thousands of defrauded investors are now seeking justice through legal channels.
The Fallout and Legal Repercussions
The $LIBRA token, initially valued at over $4 billion, collapsed almost as quickly as it rose, wiping out millions in investor funds.
Investigations into the incident have sparked numerous lawsuits, with individuals like activist Juan Grabois and congressman Itaí Hagman joining the wave of legal action.
Among the first to file a complaint was Martín Romeo, a crypto analyst who had supported Milei’s campaign and promoted $LIBRA to others.
He later presented evidence of his own financial losses in court.
However, the legal battle has become more complex as Argentine courts debate whether the case constitutes fraud or another form of financial crime.
Judge Sandra Arroyo Salgado has accepted Romeo’s testimony, which could affect jurisdictional disputes surrounding the case.
Meanwhile, the investigation continues as Davis remains free, for now, despite the mounting legal pressure.
Davis Remains Defiant Amid Legal Troubles
As the situation intensifies, Hayden Davis remains adamant that he did nothing wrong.
In a statement this week, Davis broke his silence after weeks of absence, announcing plans to appear in court and hire a new legal team.
He is reportedly in talks with high-profile attorneys Marcos Salt and Natalia Sergi, although they have not yet been officially retained.
Despite the gravity of the allegations against him, Davis insists that the charges are unfounded and continues to assert that the $LIBRA token was a failed project, not a deliberate scam.
In interviews, he has stated, “I never made any payments to them, nor did they request any,” while claiming that his role was merely to manage the funds meant for the token's launch.
With the investigation now spanning multiple countries and involving various high-profile figures, the stakes are high for Davis and Milei.
The request for an Interpol Red Notice marks a significant escalation in the legal proceedings, with both sides preparing for what could be a prolonged and complex battle over the $LIBRA scandal.
