Hamster Kombat Launches Hamster Network
Hamster Kombat, the Telegram-based tap-to-earn gaming platform, has launched Hamster Network, a Layer-2 blockchain on The Open Network (TON).
This move aims to enhance scalability and lower costs for Web3 gaming and decentralised applications (dApps), making Hamster Network the first gaming-focused L2 solution within the TON ecosystem.
Built for high transaction volumes with minimal costs, the network provides developers with an efficient framework for scaling blockchain-based games.
According to an announcement on X (formerly known as Twitter), Hamster Network leverages TON’s technology to enhance Web3 gaming, ensuring seamless integration with existing smart contracts through the TON Virtual Machine.
This allows developers to migrate dApps without significant modifications while maintaining proof-of-records on TON’s Layer-1 (L1) for security and decentralisation.
The infrastructure is already live, featuring an integrated wallet, a canonical bridge for asset transfers, and a decentralised exchange (DEX).
Developers are actively building new gaming experiences, and Hamster Kombat has introduced blockchain-testing quests and bounty rewards to drive community engagement.
The team credited TON’s infrastructure for enabling the Layer-2 launch and highlighted Telegram’s role in advancing global crypto adoption.
Community Expresses Excitement
Hamster Network’s launch comes after earlier reports hinted at plans for a dedicated Layer-2 blockchain on TON, sparking excitement within the crypto and gaming communities.
To strengthen the network ahead of broader adoption, Hamster Kombat has introduced Hamster Boost, an initiative inviting users to participate in stress-testing through blockchain testing quests.
Participants can earn bounties and rewards for their contributions, ensuring the network’s resilience and scalability before full deployment.
HamsterVerse: a Wider Infrastructure of Interconnected Games
Hamster Network is just one of several recent expansions for the Telegram-based game.
Just a few weeks prior, developers unveiled HamsterVerse, an interconnected gaming ecosystem where all apps and dApps will utilise the HMSTR token.
This integration aims to enhance user rewards while broadening the platform’s gaming experience.
According to the project's website, the first titles in HamsterVerse include Hamster Kombat: GameDev Hero, Hamster Fight Club, and Hamster King—each evolving the tap-to-earn model with team-building and game development mechanics.
Can Hamster Kombat’s Expansion Revive its Past Hype?
Hamster Kombat skyrocketed to fame last year, peaking with over 300 million players.
However, since the launch of its token, user engagement has sharply declined, with monthly active users dropping to under 20 million.
In addition, the Hamster Kombat token has shown little movement, with HMSTR currently trading at $0.001721, up just 4% in the past 24 hours.
As Telegram continues to bolster its support for TON, Hamster Network seeks to carve out a significant role in Web3 gaming.
But can this new initiative reignite the game's former popularity and maintain its relevance in the competitive Web3 space?
