Riot Platforms Sells Bitcoin to Fund Data Center Development

According to ChainCatcher, Nasdaq-listed Bitcoin mining company Riot Platforms has announced the sale of 1,080 Bitcoins, generating approximately $96 million. The proceeds will be used to purchase land in Rockdale for a data center project. Additionally, Riot Platforms has entered into a data center lease and service agreement with Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). This agreement will deploy 25 megawatts of critical IT load capacity at the Rockdale campus, with the initial phase starting in January 2026 and completion expected by May 2026.
