Citigroup strategists have indicated that the escalating military conflict involving Iran could exert pressure on currencies in emerging Asian markets. According to Jin10, the report highlights that currencies such as the Philippine peso, New Taiwan dollar, South Korean won, Indonesian rupiah, and Indian rupee are particularly sensitive to fluctuations in oil prices. The strategists added that policymakers are expected to take measures to prevent their currencies from weakening impulsively. Given the dovish stance of Asian central banks in their policy actions last week, Citigroup anticipates that interest rate adjustments will remain relatively stable in the short term.
