Shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has nearly come to a standstill, with passage rates dropping to their lowest since the critical waterway effectively closed over the weekend. According to PANews, a report released by the United Maritime Information Center on March 6 indicates that recent assessments of shipping signals in the strait show the number of passing vessels has fallen to single digits. In the past 24 hours, only two confirmed commercial passages were observed. This multinational maritime advisory organization, focusing on the Middle East, noted that these passages involved cargo ships rather than oil tankers.
