Japan's Central Bank Likely to Maintain Policy Rate at 0.75%, Economist Predicts

Economist Kei Fujimoto from Sumitomo Mitsui Trust anticipates that the Bank of Japan will maintain its policy interest rate at 0.75% this week. According to Jin10, the central bank is closely monitoring the impact of rising crude oil prices on the costs of petrochemical products and other oil-based goods, as well as how these cost pressures are affecting prices within Japan. Although the increase in crude oil prices is expected to temporarily raise the prices of gasoline and other energy products, this short-term fluctuation is unlikely to prompt the central bank to raise interest rates ahead of schedule.
