The competition between cryptocurrency companies and traditional remittance firms like Western Union and MoneyGram is expected to intensify. Nate Svensson, a senior equity research analyst at Deutsche Bank, believes that traditional remittance companies still hold certain advantages, particularly due to their well-established regulatory frameworks globally. Meanwhile, Jessica Wachter, a finance professor at Wharton School, notes that crypto-native companies benefit from the flexible application of stablecoin technology. She suggests that traditional remittance firms might end up competing against themselves if they integrate stablecoins with their existing fiat remittance systems.
