Zcash Foundation Outlines Strategic Focus for 2026

The Zcash Foundation has unveiled its strategic priorities for 2026. According to Odaily, the foundation aims to enhance the performance of its sole consensus node implementation, Zebra, complete the NU7 ZIP implementation, and advance the Z3 technology stack to replace zcashd. Additionally, the foundation plans to continue developing the FROST threshold signature scheme, with intentions to release version 3, finalize ZIP-312, and introduce a Distributed Key Generation (DKG) protocol. The foundation is also committed to privacy protection initiatives, advocating for a 'privacy by default' digital cash assistance model and exploring identity solutions based on zero-knowledge proofs to balance compliance, accountability, and privacy. Furthermore, the Zcash Foundation has announced plans to host three major events in 2026: Zcomm, an online event on March 24; the Zcash Dev Summit in Rome, Italy, on May 8; and Zcon7 in Cancun, Mexico, from October 27 to 29.
