Egypt Bans Roblox to Protect Children from Harmful Online Content

Egypt's regulatory authorities have taken steps to ban the gaming platform Roblox, citing concerns over children's exposure to potentially harmful online content. According to Jin10, the decision by the Supreme Media Regulatory Council will be coordinated with the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority. The specific reasons for this action were not disclosed by the Middle East News Agency, Egypt's official news outlet. However, earlier this week, another official media source, Al-Ahram, hinted at the impending ban, quoting an Egyptian senator who emphasized the need for regulation to safeguard children's moral and educational values and mitigate associated psychological and behavioral risks. Last year, Roblox announced plans to limit certain features in the Middle East to address cybersecurity concerns. The platform has previously faced bans in countries like Qatar and Turkey.
