U.S. Trade Representative Greer emphasized the continued validity of agreements with the European Union, South Korea, and other nations during an appearance on CBS's 'Face the Nation' on Sunday. According to ChainCatcher, Greer sought to differentiate these agreements from U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement on Saturday regarding the implementation of a 15% global tariff.
Greer stated, "We want them to understand that these deals will be successful transactions. We will fully support these agreements, and we expect our partners to fully support them as well." He also highlighted that other U.S. trade measures, including those investigating trade practices of other countries, would provide advantages to the United States.
Over the weekend, Greer engaged in discussions with EU officials and plans to communicate with representatives from other major U.S. trade partners to reassure them of the stability and support for existing agreements.
