U.S. Democratic leaders have announced that negotiations with the White House to restore operations for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have reached a deadlock. House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries emphasized that the DHS appropriations bill will not progress until there is movement on these matters, noting that there has been almost no substantive communication with the White House recently.
