IBM Collaborates with Signal and Threema on Quantum-Resistant Messaging

IBM is working with messaging platforms Signal and Threema to develop quantum-resistant messaging protocols aimed at protecting against future encryption attacks. According to NS3.AI, the initiative addresses concerns over 'harvest now, decrypt later' strategies, where adversaries could potentially record encrypted communications today and decrypt them once quantum computing becomes more advanced. Signal has already implemented PQXDH and SPQR post-quantum upgrades, while Threema is considering the integration of the National Institute of Standards and Technology-standardized ML-KEM algorithm with IBM's assistance.
