Germany has unveiled a strategic plan to expand its data center capacity, aiming to double its general data center computing power by 2030 compared to 2025 levels. According to Jin10, the strategy, announced by Germany's Minister for Digitalization and National Modernization, Carsten Wilderberger, on March 17, focuses on meeting the rapidly growing demand for data processing driven by AI applications, cloud services, and digitalization.
Wilderberger emphasized the need for Germany to catch up globally in this sector. The strategy, which is set to be submitted for approval by the German cabinet, outlines 28 specific measures with the core objective of establishing Germany as a leading data center hub in Europe with data sovereignty.
The plan also includes a significant increase in computing power dedicated to artificial intelligence, aiming for at least a fourfold increase by 2030 compared to 2025. This move is part of Germany's broader efforts to enhance its digital infrastructure and competitiveness in the global tech landscape.
