AI TRENDS | U.S. Law Firms Warn Against AI Chatbot Use in Legal Discussions

More than a dozen major U.S. law firms have issued warnings to their clients regarding the use of AI chatbots in legal discussions. According to NS3.AI, these firms caution that engaging in legal conversations with AI tools may compromise attorney-client privilege. This advisory comes in the wake of a February ruling by Judge Jed Rakoff in New York, which allowed prosecutors to use a fraud defendant's Claude chatbot interactions and 31 AI-generated defense documents as evidence in court.
