Western Union Introduces USDPT Stablecoin for Global Settlements

Western Union has launched USDPT, a stablecoin backed by the U.S. dollar, on the Solana blockchain. According to NS3.AI, this initiative aims to facilitate 24/7 settlements with agents and partners within its extensive global payment network. The company had earlier announced that USDPT would initially replace SWIFT-based interbank settlements with its agents. Angus Scott noted that this development indicates stablecoins are beginning to challenge traditional payment models.
