Cannes Mayor Promotes Cryptocurrency Payments Ahead Of 2027 French Presidential Bid

According to PANews, Cannes Mayor David Lisnard is setting his sights on the 2027 French presidential election by advocating for the adoption of cryptocurrency payments in the city. He also plans to make the Ethereum Community Conference (EthCC) a focal point next summer. In a LinkedIn post shared by Lisnard, he stated, "As part of our Web3 strategy, we will encourage and specifically train Cannes merchants to integrate cryptocurrency payments. Cannes will host the eighth Ethereum Community Conference (EthCC) from June 30 to July 3, 2025, which is Europe's largest annual Ethereum blockchain event. This means a significant number of potential customers accustomed to using cryptocurrency payments will visit our city. We will provide EthCC attendees with a 'crypto-friendly' merchant map, which will be regularly updated and publicly released."
