Tanzanian Billionaire's Social Media Account Hacked to Promote Cryptocurrency

According to PANews, Tanzanian billionaire Mohammed Dewji's social media account on platform X was hacked, with attackers using AI-generated deepfake videos to promote a cryptocurrency called $Tanzania. Dewji has denied any involvement, stating that his account remains under the hackers' control. The hackers disabled the comment feature and released four deepfake videos in succession, urging investors to purchase the cryptocurrency. Within just a few hours, investors had contributed $1.48 million. The hacking group is suspected to be linked to a previous incident involving the account of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, where $1.3 million was fraudulently obtained. Platform X has yet to respond to the situation.
