Cantor Fitzgerald Adjusts Price Target for Strategy Amid Bitcoin Market Dynamics

According to Cointelegraph, U.S.-based financial firm Cantor Fitzgerald has revised its price target for Michael Saylor's Bitcoin-focused company, Strategy, while maintaining a positive outlook on the cryptocurrency's long-term potential. The firm has downplayed concerns about forced liquidation, despite the Financial Times reporting a significant reduction in the 12-month price target for Strategy stock. Cantor Fitzgerald has reportedly lowered the target by 60%, adjusting it to $229 from the previous $560, as noted in a Thursday analyst report. Cantor's "buy" rating for Strategy remains unchanged, with analysts asserting that fears of forced liquidations are "not warranted," despite the attention these concerns have received. The analysts highlighted that Strategy possesses "enough cash" to cover dividend payments for 21 months and can raise additional funds through equity facilities if necessary. They emphasized that unless Bitcoin experiences a 90% drop from current levels, the fear of forced liquidation is unwarranted. Despite the revised price target, Strategy's stock has underperformed compared to Cantor's previous expectations. At the time of writing, Strategy's shares were trading around $186, marking a 27% decline over the past month and a 35% decrease year-to-date, according to Google Finance data. Cantor Fitzgerald is the ninth-largest shareholder in the company. Strategy's stock faces short-term challenges, including the potential removal from the MSCI Index due to digital asset holdings exceeding 50% of total assets. This scenario could lead to "forced selling of MSTR," but Cantor views this as a "somewhat warranted" concern that presents a "near-term flow headwind." Nonetheless, Cantor remains optimistic about Strategy and Bitcoin's price trajectory, describing the current market pullback as a "healthy" correction. They believe Bitcoin is on track to surpass gold's market capitalization. Cantor's analysts expressed confidence that Bitcoin could eventually overtake gold's market cap, noting that Bitcoin's current market cap is just 6.1% of gold's. To achieve this, Bitcoin would need to reach a price of $1,577,860. Other analysts have also predicted Bitcoin's potential to eclipse gold's market capitalization, with forecasts suggesting Bitcoin could surpass $1.8 million by 2035. However, Bitcoin's price would need to increase nearly 16-fold to exceed the value of the world's largest precious metal. Since the beginning of 2025, gold's price has risen 58%, outperforming Bitcoin's 1.5% year-to-date decline, according to TradingView data.
