In a speech in Davos on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump claimed that his policies ushered in an era of economic prosperity for the United States and that his governing platform provides a model for Europe to emulate. Trump stated, "Yesterday marked my one-year anniversary in office, and now, 12 months after returning to the White House, our economy is booming. The economy is growing rapidly, productivity is increasing dramatically, investment is growing significantly, and incomes are rising steadily. Inflation has been resolved." At the same time, he used his speech to issue a stern warning to Europe, pointing out that liberal governments on the continent have fallen behind the United States, and that world leaders need to emulate his model to provide security for their people. Trump stated, "The United States is the engine of the global economy. When the American economy prospers, the whole world prospers; and when the American economy has problems, the whole world suffers. That's the law of history. I like Europe and want to see it prosper, but it's not on the right track." (Jin Shi)
