The Ethereum Foundation announced the formation of a dedicated Post-Quantum security team, led by Thomas Coratger and supported by leanVM cryptographer Emile, elevating quantum security to a top strategic priority. Researcher Justin Drake stated that Ethereum is shifting from a long-term back-end research phase to active engineering implementation, including launching a bi-weekly quantum-resistant transaction developer conference and running a multi-client quantum-resistant consensus test network. The Ethereum Foundation is also increasing funding and community investment, planning to launch two $1 million cryptography awards and host multiple quantum-related community events and educational programs in 2026. The Ethereum Foundation emphasized that while the quantum threat remains a medium- to long-term risk, blockchains need to plan ahead to ensure wallet security and smooth network upgrades.
