A Democratic senator aide reportedly stated that Democrats remain willing to return to the negotiating table and push for a bipartisan compromise after negotiations on crypto market legislation stalled on the Senate Agriculture Committee. The aide revealed that Democrats were "somewhat caught off guard" at the start of the new year because Republicans drafted a new version of the bill without sufficient consultation and originally planned to proceed directly to the markup process in mid-January. In response, Democrats hope to resume communication with the team of committee chairman, Republican Senator John Boozman, before this week's vote to strive for bipartisan consensus. The Senate Agriculture Committee was originally scheduled to hold a meeting on amendments and a vote on crypto legislation this Tuesday, but it was postponed to Thursday due to inclement weather in Washington. Meanwhile, some Democratic senators are actively pushing for a restart of negotiations to reach a bipartisan text before the hearings. The crypto market structure bill aims to establish a federal-level regulatory framework for digital assets, including clarifying the regulatory division of labor between the SEC and CFTC and related information disclosure requirements. Analysts point out that given that both the Senate Banking Committee and the Agriculture Committee need to advance their respective versions of the bill, bipartisan cooperation remains a key prerequisite for the smooth progress of the legislation.
