The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has launched a legal action against cryptocurrency exchange HTX, accusing the company of continuing to promote crypto asset services to UK consumers in violation of financial promotion rules. The FCA states that HTX has been publishing illegal marketing content on platforms such as TikTok, X, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. Despite previous warnings, HTX has not ceased its violations. The FCA has now requested social media platforms to block HTX accounts targeting UK users and has requested Apple and Google to remove the HTX app from their app stores. Furthermore, the FCA points out that HTX's organizational structure is opaque, and multiple attempts to communicate with them have gone unanswered. HTX is currently on the FCA's warning list, meaning that UK users will not have access to financial complaints services in the event of losses.
