Cryptocurrency exchange OKX has obtained a Payment Institution (PI) license in Malta, bringing it into compliance with EU regulatory requirements that will take effect in March 2026. This license allows OKX to continue providing stablecoin-related payment services throughout the EU, subject to compliance with the Crypto Asset Markets Regulation (MiCA) and the Payment Services Directive 2 (PSD2). Previously, OKX partnered with Mastercard to launch cryptocurrency payment cards in Europe, and OKX Ventures, OKX's investment arm, recently invested in stablecoin issuance platform STBL. (CoinDesk)
