The FBI has raised concerns over a surge in ATM jackpotting attacks across the United States, reporting more than 700 incidents in 2025 that resulted in cash losses exceeding $20 million. According to NS3.AI, these attacks involve criminals exploiting ATM vulnerabilities by physically accessing the machines and installing malware that bypasses bank authorization, allowing them to forcibly dispense cash. Federal authorities have charged 93 individuals in connection with these crimes, many of whom are linked to a Venezuelan gang. The FBI recommends that banks implement enhanced security measures to combat this growing threat.
