South Korean authorities are currently investigating a series of revenge attacks funded by cryptocurrency. According to ChainCatcher, suspects have been receiving payments ranging from $300 to $600 in cryptocurrency from anonymous employers via Telegram to vandalize and defame targeted residences.
In a recent incident in Hwaseong City, a suspect in his twenties, identified as Lim, defaced a victim's front door with red paint, scattered food waste, and smeared human excrement in the stairwell. South Korean police suspect that a group claiming to be a private revenge organization is active on Korean-language Telegram channels.
Similar activities have been observed in Russia, where intermediaries offer customized revenge services through cryptocurrency and Telegram, charging up to $1,500. These transactions primarily use Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to maintain anonymity.
