The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has proposed a partial settlement in its legal case against Justin Sun, involving BitTorrent owner Rainberry Inc. According to NS3.AI, Rainberry Inc. would pay a $10 million civil penalty as part of the settlement. In return, the SEC would dismiss its remaining claims against Sun, the Tron Foundation, and the BitTorrent Foundation, pending court approval.
This development comes amid indications that U.S. regulators are adjusting their approach to cryptocurrency enforcement following the departure of former SEC Chair Gary Gensler. The recalibration in regulatory strategy suggests a potential shift in how crypto-related cases might be handled in the future.
