Iranian Ambassador to China, Fazli, pointed out that the Iranian Constitution clearly stipulates the procedures and processes for selecting a new national leader. Fazli stated that during the period between the death of the previous leader and the election of a new leader, Iranian affairs are managed by a provisional leadership council. This council consists of the Iranian president, the head of the Iranian Ministry of Justice, and a representative from the Iranian Assembly of Experts. He said, "In the past nine days, Iran has organized a provisional leadership council, and the Iranian Assembly of Experts is fulfilling its responsibilities in selecting a new leader. Yesterday, they reached an agreement to select Mojtaba Khamenei from among several candidates as the new leader. He now possesses all the qualifications required of a leader as stipulated in the Iranian Constitution." (China News Service)
