Hong Kong Airlines has announced an increase in its fuel surcharge. According to Ming Pao, Cathay Pacific's passenger fuel surcharge rates, effective from March 1 this year, include a charge of HKD 569 for long-haul routes to regions such as Europe, America, and Central Africa from Hong Kong. For routes to the Indian subcontinent, the surcharge is HKD 264, while short-haul routes incur a charge of HKD 142. For example, the one-way fuel surcharge for flights from Hong Kong to Japan is HKD 142, with the return trip costing 8,000 yen, approximately HKD 395 at the current exchange rate, bringing the total expenditure to about HKD 537.
