Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez issued a warning on March 11 regarding comments made by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen following the escalation of conflict in the Middle East. According to Jin10, Sánchez emphasized that European values should remain unchanged. He noted that international chaos has previously dragged Europe into two world wars.
Sánchez also disclosed that he had discussions with European Council President Charles Michel and agreed with Michel's stance that the European Union must defend a 'rules-based' international order, which contrasts with von der Leyen's viewpoint. Sánchez stressed the importance of the EU supporting the revival of multilateralism and rejected any involvement in nuclear rearmament plans, stating, 'We do not want a nuclear world.'
