Two former executives from Nvidia, Geoffrey Levene and Max Cohen, have joined Era, a New York-based investment firm focused on artificial intelligence. According to Jin10, Levene, who was Nvidia's Global Head of AI Initiatives, and Cohen, the former Director of North American Cloud Business, are now part of Era, which is led by 30-year-old investor Jasper Lau. The firm primarily engages in venture capital and offers a range of financial services to clients and portfolio companies.
Era is currently in the process of raising $250 million, having already secured $140 million in oversubscribed funding. Unlike traditional venture capital sources such as pension funds, Era is targeting wealthy families, some of whom have vested interests in global data center construction. The firm plans to collaborate closely with Nvidia, which has assisted in identifying priority AI markets and investment strategies for Era's latest fund.
Nvidia's CEO, Jensen Huang, has played a role in encouraging affluent families to adopt AI technologies and support infrastructure development, including investments in Era.
