The United States has issued a 30-day permit for the purchase of Russian oil at sea.

The U.S. Treasury Department has issued a 30-day license allowing countries to purchase Russian oil and petroleum products currently stranded at sea. U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessenter stated that this move aims to stabilize global energy markets destabilized by the conflict with Iran, and that this short-term measure will not bring significant economic benefits to the Russian government. The license, issued Thursday, authorizes the transport and sale of Russian crude oil and petroleum products loaded on ships, effective March 12, and will remain valid until midnight Eastern Time on April 11.
