The conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran has caused a blockage in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global energy transport route. Maritime data shows that only 77 ships have passed through the Strait of Hormuz since March 1st. In comparison, 1,229 ships passed through the strait between March 1st and 11th last year. AFP, citing Lloyd's of London Marine Information Service on the 13th, reported that most of the 77 ships that passed through were old and in poor condition, lacked proper insurance, and had unclear ownership. The agency, which provides maritime data and analysis services, stated that most of these ships belong to a so-called "shadow fleet," namely oil tankers and LNG carriers circumventing Western sanctions.
