The latest data released by the U.S. Treasury Department on March 18 showed that the total U.S. federal debt surpassed the $39 trillion mark as of March 17. U.S. media reports indicate that this figure highlights conflicting priorities within the U.S. government, including passing massive tax laws, increasing defense spending, strengthening immigration enforcement, and reducing debt. Meanwhile, war and tax cuts have also driven increased spending.
