On the afternoon of March 19, 2026, Pan Gongsheng, Governor of the People's Bank of China, met with visiting officials from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, including Financial Secretary Paul Chan, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Christopher Hui, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority Eddie Yue, Chairman of the Securities and Futures Commission Wong Tin-yau, and Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission, Leung Fung-yee. The two sides exchanged views on issues of common concern, including the current macroeconomic situation, deepening the interconnection between the mainland and Hong Kong financial markets, strengthening the development of Hong Kong's offshore RMB market, consolidating and enhancing Hong Kong's status as an international financial center, and continuously promoting high-level opening up of the financial sector.
