Open Forest Protocol (OFP), an open forest measurement, reporting and verification platform built on a carbon-neutral blockchain, announced the completion of a $4.1 million seed round of financing, Shima Capital, Übermorgen Ventures, Not Boring Capital, Mercy Corps Ventures, Byzantine Marine, Big Brain Holdings and Valor Capital also participated, along with a number of angel investors. Funds raised will be used to continue building out the core infrastructure of the system and to expedite the launch of projects by governments, NGOs, and individuals. Founded in 2021 by Swiss scientist Frederic Fournier and American Web3 expert Michael Kelly, OFP is an open platform that supports forestry projects of any scale in the world to measure, report and verify their afforestation data. The Verified (MRV) technology works with approximately 40 afforestation/reforestation projects worldwide.
