On March 30, a member of Iran's Islamic Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, announced that Iran is seriously contemplating withdrawing from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons due to current international security conditions and external threats. According to BlockBeats, Iran also plans to implement stricter access and fee regulations for vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
Boroujerdi emphasized Iran's complete control over this strategic waterway and disclosed plans to establish a new management system for the strait. This system would be modeled after Turkey's management of the Bosphorus Strait and Egypt's handling of the Suez Canal, requiring ships to obtain Iranian permission and pay transit and service fees.
