Trezor's firmware product lead, Jan Setina, announced at the EthCC[9] conference that the team is transitioning its firmware architecture from a monolithic structure to a modular application platform. According to Foresight News, this initiative aims to address previous structural bottlenecks, such as slow integration speeds and hardware storage limitations, caused by the internal team's need to review all code. Developers can now use Trezor's SDK and simulator to independently develop, publish, and maintain applications. The modular firmware supports dynamic loading of applications as needed, with each application running in an isolated sandbox environment. This ensures that vulnerabilities in a single application do not affect others, enhancing security while increasing the flexibility of functional expansion.
