Precious metals and European stock indices rose in tandem, while crude oil bucked the trend and retreated.

In global stock indices, the Euro Stoxx 50 rose 1.39% to 5,585.07 points; the UK FTSE 100 rose 1.31% to 10,207.43 points; and the German DAX 40 rose 1.44% to 22,781.58 points. In commodities, WTI crude oil fell 1.42% to $103.96 per barrel, while Brent crude oil fell 0.97% to $111.54 per barrel.
