Ambassador Fu Cong, China's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, stated at an open meeting of the Security Council on cooperation with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) that the origin of the Middle East conflict lies in the military attacks launched by the United States and Israel against Iran, and the fundamental solution to preventing the situation from escalating lies in the cessation of military operations by the US and Israel. China does not condone Iran's attacks on GCC countries and condemns all indiscriminate attacks on innocent civilians and non-military targets; the safety of shipping lanes should not be disturbed. Ambassador Fu emphasized that the Security Council should uphold an objective, impartial, and fair stance. Under the current circumstances, authorizing member states to use force is tantamount to legitimizing the illegal abuse of force, which will inevitably lead to further escalation and serious consequences. The Security Council must act prudently and play a positive role in promoting de-escalation and resuming dialogue and negotiations. (CCTV International News)
