A recent incident of market manipulation occurred in the Polymarket weather market in Paris. According to Foresight News, a man exploited a temperature sensor near the runway at Charles de Gaulle Airport, which was largely unprotected, by using a portable heating device to temporarily raise the surrounding air temperature to 22°C, significantly higher than the expected 18°C for the day. He had previously purchased this low-probability outcome at a very low price, and the market settled based on this manipulated result. The man conducted this operation on April 6 and April 15, earning approximately $34,000 in total. Météo France detected the anomaly and has filed criminal charges.
