mETH Protocol has announced plans to gradually discontinue the operations of its liquidity re-staking token, cmETH, while other products will continue to function normally. According to Foresight News, the minting function for cmETH was closed on May 7, 2026, and the final EigenLayer rewards distribution will be completed by mid-June 2026. The rewards claim window will close on November 7, 2026.
The decision to shut down cmETH was made after a comprehensive evaluation of the current market trajectory, with the aim of reallocating resources to areas that can create more lasting value for users. Existing holdings will remain unaffected, and the unstaking and bridging functions will remain open.
