LayerZero Labs is facing scrutiny after a heated debate between its co-founder and CEO, Bryan Pellegrino, and security researchers in the ETHSecurity Community Telegram group. According to PANews, the discussion centered around the potential risk of theft exceeding $3 billion due to LayerZero Labs' ability to upgrade a default library contract without a time limit, which could lead to message forgery similar to the rsETH hack. Researcher Banteg highlighted that major projects like Ethena and EtherFi were still using this default library contract weeks ago, with $178 million currently exposed to risk from funds still utilizing the contract.
