The Polygon PoS chain has reached the hard fork scheduled block height of 38,189,056, and the current block generation is normal. Previously, Polygon proposed a hard fork of the network on January 17 to address excessive gas spikes and handle chain reorganizations (reorgs) to shorten finalization times. Among them, in terms of reducing Gas peak, Polygon proposes to change BaseFeeChangeDenominator from the current value of 8 to 16. This will help smooth out the base fee increase/decrease rate when gas exceeds or falls below the target gas limit in a block. Polygon expects the base gas fee rate of change to drop from the current 12.5% (100/8) to 6.25% (100/16).
