According to Sina Finance, Omdia's latest analysis showed that Latin America's smartphone market fell 12% year over year to 30.3 million units in the second quarter of 2026 (2Q2026). DRAM and NAND cost increases were passed through to retail prices, hitting demand for entry-level devices the hardest. Suppliers and channel partners had partly cushioned the impact in the first quarter through front-loaded shipments and inventory buffers, but those protections weakened in the second quarter, exposing more pressure in the low end while the mid-range, premium, and flagship segments remained relatively resilient.
Samsung remained Latin America's largest smartphone maker, shipping 12 million units, up 9% year over year, and lifting its market share to 39%, the highest level since the first quarter of 2022 (1Q22).
