According to the BBC, US Vice-President JD Vance called Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed “a very, very evil” person at a campaign rally and told him to “keep my wife's name the hell out of your mouth” after comments about Second Lady Usha Vance, who is Hindu. El-Sayed later accused the Trump administration of pursuing “evil” policies, including taking healthcare away from working people, raising costs for groceries and gas, and pushing trade wars and actual war. The Michigan race, which pits El-Sayed against Trump ally Mike Rogers, is one of the most closely watched contests ahead of the midterm elections, and a Michigan firm’s Epic-MRA survey released earlier this week showed El-Sayed with a four-point lead.
