Hong Kong's half-day short selling turnover reached HK$23.206 billion, accounting for 19.41% of total market turnover of HK$119.556 billion, according to ETNet.
There were 827 shorted stocks. Tracker Fund of Hong Kong (02800) and Southern Hang Seng Tech (03033) were the most shorted names, with HK$1.761 billion and HK$1.375 billion respectively, representing 7.59% and 5.92% of total short selling and 36.11% and 44.71% of their own turnover.
XL2 South Hynix (07709) and Alibaba (09988) recorded short selling of HK$1.052 billion and HK$1.028 billion, equal to 4.53% and 4.43% of the total, and 62.14% and 23.28% of their respective turnover. Tracker Fund of Hong Kong closed at HK$25.64, down HK$0.22 or 0.85%; Southern Hang Seng Tech ended at HK$4.398, down HK$0.07 or 1.57%; XL2 South Hynix fell HK$2.24, or 6.04%, to HK$34.84; and Alibaba slipped HK$2, or 1.81%, to HK$108.4.
