According to Axios, the Trump administration is pressing ahead with plans to build hundreds more miles of 30-foot steel barrier and other security measures along the southern border, including vehicle barriers and construction in Big Bend state and national parks. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney Scott told Texas border county officials in a closed-door meeting that wall construction along a more than 200-mile stretch from Hudspeth County to Presidio County was not negotiable, while a federal judge has issued a temporary restraining order that pauses construction over roughly 600 miles of border through the end of this month. Officials also said landowners who do not agree to give access could face eminent domain lawsuits, and CBP said it is evaluating technology options to meet President Trump's goal of zero illegal border crossings in remote areas.
