Oil prices held near their highest closing level in five weeks after renewed U.S.-Iran conflict threatened Middle East energy exports. According to Sina Finance, WTI rose 0.9% to $91.01 a barrel and Brent gained 1% to $95.63 a barrel.
Copper fell to a more than one-week low as higher oil prices deepened concerns about the global economic outlook. According to Sina Finance, LME copper closed down 0.4% at $14,215.5 a ton, while aluminum rose 0.1%, nickel gained 1.5%, zinc fell 1.5%, tin dropped 0.7%, and lead declined 1.3%.
Gold rose as the dollar weakened and traders assessed the latest comments from Federal Reserve officials on the rate path. According to Sina Finance, spot gold was up 1.2% at $4,381.68 an ounce at 5 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time, while spot silver rose 1.9% to $65.3155 an ounce.
